About Karen
Karen Morrison is an acclaimed jewellery designer and silversmith known for creating fine and demi-fine pieces characterized by a distinctive blend of femininity and contemporary edge. Her work, described as timeless and designed for everyday wear, reflects her commitment to craftsmanship and quality.
Karen began her career by studying Fashion Design in Glasgow before relocating to London, where she worked extensively as a fashion model. Driven by a desire to expand her expertise, she later pursued studies in Jewellery, Art, and Design in London and gained valuable experience collaborating with several distinguished designers within the industry.
For nearly two decades, all of Karen's creations have been handcrafted in her South London studio, located in Brixton. She utilizes traditional lost-wax casting methods and partners with renowned Hatton Garden specialists for stone setting and gold plating. Each unique piece features carefully selected precious and semi-precious gemstones, pearls, and mixed precious metals, ensuring that no two items are exactly alike.
Karen draws inspiration from the natural world and has a longstanding passion for both contemporary and vintage fashion. Other influences include photography, architecture, film, music, and the Art Deco period.
Her contributions to the jewellery sector have been recognized through various accolades: inclusion in Professional Jeweller magazine's 'UK Hot 100' as a 'Trendsetter' in 2013, a collaboration with Topshop on their UNIQUE S/S 13 catwalk collection in 2012, and nominations for Jewellery/Accessory Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards in both 2009 and 2014.
