Karen Morrison is an award winning London based jewellery
designer/maker who produces stylish jewellery that marries
sophisticated glamour with delicate femininity.
Karen first studied Fashion Design in Glasgow, her hometown,
then moved to London where she worked as a Fashion Model
for many years. Feeling the urge to learn more, Karen studied
Jewellery, Art and Design in London, which resulted her
working with designers such as Reema Pachachi and EC One.
Karen now designs a new collection a season gathering inspiration
from the catwalk and everyday life. Each piece is lovingly
handmade by Karen from her Brixton studio, with the help
of Hatton Garden tradesmen for stone setting and gold plating.
She works with colourful precious and semi-precious gemstones,
rough cut diamonds, freshwater pearls and occasional pieces
of swarovski crystal, blended with sterling silver, 9ct
gold, oxidised silver and 22ct gold-plated silver.
Karen is inspired by the natural environment and has a life-long
passion for fashion, both contemporary and vintage. She
is also influenced by photography, architecture, film, music,
the Art Deco period and by artists such as Tamara de Lempicka,
Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe and Kandinsky.
In September 2013 Karen was named as one of the UK's Hot
100 jewellers in Professional Jeweller magazine. She was
listed in the 'Trendsetter' category for her contribution
to the industry in 2013. In 2012 Karen collaborated with
Topshop's design team to design and make the jewellery for
their Topshop UNIQUE S/S 13' catwalk show. And in 2009 Karen
was nominated in the Scottish Fashion Awards for jewellery/accessory
designer of the year.
Her jewellery has featured in many publications such as;
Vogue, Elle, Grazia, Red, Wedding and Home, ES magazine
and Professional Jeweller. Her jewellery is available to
buy from her website and at various outlets throughout the
UK. She also hosts regular pop-up shops and sells her jewellery
at various markets and events in London.
