Aquamarine



Ever since the dawn of history, aquamarine is one of the most coveted precious stones in the world. The source of its name lies in the Latin word for “sea water”, as its singular color symbolized the beauty and the power of the sea in the eyes of ancient mankind. Aquamarine was frequently referred to as “blue emerald” or “the stone of valor”.
Aquamarine belongs to the beryl family of stones and its composition is similar to that of the emerald. The most valued color for this stone is sky blue and on occasions it may even attain the intensity of the color of the bright sapphire. This stone has inclusions, which are aligned in the direction of the crystal’s longitudinal axis and shaped like raindrops.
